Glad I found this place!

Postby Bow Legged Brutha » Tue Jan 13, 2015 8:56 am

Afternoon all,

Pleased I found this place. Good to know there are other people out there who are passionate about the golden age of rap/hip hop.
As you can probably tell from my username I'm a HUGE fan of Melle Mel.
I started collecting the Electro tapes in the early 80's and I've been hooked on all that stuff ever since.
Can't listen to any rap beyond the 80's, it all sounds like bullshit to me.

Looking forward to chatting with you all.

I hate to break it to you, but Cowboy was the Bow Legged Brutha, not Melle Mel.

But welcome to the board anyway.

Yes I know.
Pretty obvious that a Cowboy would have bow legs isn't it?

I seem to have confused you with my intro. When I said I like Melle Mel I meant Melle Mel AND the Furious Five, plus Grandmaster Flash and all of the various formats of that group and its members.

I chose that name because I like the line about buying a mansion for your Mother.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome.

It was Melle Mel via White lines on Electro 2 that got me hooked. I got Work Party for Xmas when it was out and fell in love with some of those tracks and loved the whole look on the cover and how they appeared on TOTP with that other wicked track , Step off.
Welcome. :D

this board really is fantastic. Old Hip-Hop Heads like us love this stuff....sigh....nowadays it's all 808's and synths that sound like garbage. What happened to scratching and beat boxing?? It's not done to death. sigh.
