thanks for the reply ezk but that song wasn't released when Stick Em came out. it is however from the same break i initially thought was being used from that Pleasure record, which i think may or may not be wrong upon further investigating. i believe that what he's cutting up are the horns from the Brothers Johnson "Ain't We Funkin Now" in one section and possibly Pleasure in another section of the song. i think i got confused thinking he was cutting up the same record on the whole thing :?

for one section i did a side by side comparison with the Brothers Johnson break here:

http://www9.zippyshare.com/v/72465669/file.html

he may pitch it up or down in different parts of Stick Em too...

or i think i could be over-complicating this

and for reference, here's the Pleasure break side by side comparison in a different part of the song:

anyone know the scratch samples in Coldcut's Beats & Pieces ?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyIQ2Nzcx_E

the orch his has been found: matt black confirms it is Yes-Owner of a lonely Heart.
(which i think the yes sample came from art of noise..but i digress)
after going through dr who episodes "alright just one more time" is tom baker

i have all but 2 samples left to I.D. (they just repeat)
here's whats left to find:

1:58-2:07 - noise scratch (i know this, but can't place it..grandfunk or billy squier maybe))

3:10-3:11 - my goodness (another sample off peter wolf maybe?)

------------------------------------------------

any help appreciated :)

I need to know what that vocal with the reverb on that sounds like it says 'go' is in the record You cant win by The Brothers.
Also whats the little snippet of drum London posse sampled for Hip hop reggae? I had the loop on its own with more of the drums n it sounded like The Meters.

Think the sample on the Brothers track is Ain't No Half Steppin by Heatwave.

hey, thanks esp but i've found all that's listed there plus a few more.
btw they list afrique but the sample is by a different artist

..and your link is to a different coldcut track :)

one of the un-identified samples is by grandfunk, still trying to source it to confirm.

thx to everyone for helping.

Hip Hop On Wax (Volume 1)

The samples are;

Intro: Cuttin' Herbie [vocal mix] "DJ Chuck Chillout, what you gonna do?"

Section 1: Mohawks - "Champ" / Unknown to me - "Are You Ready"

Section 2: Johnny Caster Bunch - It's just Begun - Words and Horn

Section 3: Unknown to me - "yes, yes, y'all". Unknown to me - "And"

Section 4: Eddie Kendricks - Girl you need a change of mind - "Aha baby"

Section 5: Richard Pryor - That N**ger's Crazy "Oh yeah! Sweet"

Anyone know the missing scratches.

i believe the 'and' is from the start of timezone-wildstyle (side a)
the woman talking says "and" 3 times, the first one sounds like a match to me.

here are the other missing samples "are you ready" & "here we go"

WoW!! Thanks ezk. Finally I now know the "Are you ready" and "Here we go" scratch origin.
And yeah, I did eventually find out where that "And" was from.
