70s-80s funk bands that rode the Old School HipHop Bandwagon

Postby rchecka » Sat May 30, 2009 7:06 pm

?

Name some funk or funky-disco or funky-blues bands that saw the birth of OSHH and dabbled.

Bands that I can conjure right now:

Shock
Fatback Band
Grover Washington
...

Name some super a-- fonky bands that saw the birth of Old School Hip Hop and jumped on board regardless of how good their one-off Old School Hip Hop styled singles were...

Capt. Sky did a couple of tracks - Super Rock Body Shock as Eye Beta Rock, and Station Break which has always been a favourite of mine.

George Clinton also chipped in on Dog Talk.

I remember Kashif once said on Video Soul that ANYBODY can rap, so he came out with a group called the Wootens. Well, how'd that work out?
