Dynamite Two

Postby fizza » Wed Nov 21, 2007 10:40 am

Here's a crew that I think doesn't get much discussion, they came out with three jams, Can't Stop (Till I Reach The Top), Let Us See You Dance/The Main Beat & We'll Make You Rock/Frankie D Cuts The Beat

Strange thing was I first got their second release and really liked The Main Beat but Dynamite Two weren't even listed on discogs till I submitted it to them after playing it on my show. Thankfully now all the stuff I know they did is up there, I have their first release also, but am still hunting down their third release on Panoramic, which actually is my favourite out of the lot, Frankie D Cuts The Beat is a great track IMHO.

Anyone else know their stuff and were were they known much at the time in NY? Their second release was on Atlantic which I'm assuming meant that they must have made some noise with their first release, which I think was also Jazzy Jay's first production credit.

Can't stop is a dope track with jazzy jay doing some excellent cutting & scratching, but I'm a real sucker for "We'll make you rock". Even my wife likes that one and she dislikes just about every song I dig.

I don't believe that I own anything by these two. but then again when I went to storage the other day I saw 12" that I didn't remember buying. Oh back to the subject at hand I have heard of them though
If they did it like the used to I'd still prefer the Old School L.E.S. 4 Life

THE MAIN BEAT is my sheet.... I love the sparseness of that tune and the neat drum fills (flourishes).////

defintitely inspired by SUCKER MCS....

like all versions of I CAN'T STOP TILL I REACH THE TOP... interesting that this is the very first rap n' scratch joint ever...... good "freddy's dead" interpolation...

never heard the FRANKIE D joint....
yeah yeah yeah
