Track down a song by lyrics only - maybe "Live it Up"

Postby KeeferKRockasocki » Mon Nov 27, 2017 10:52 pm

This was a song I really liked back in the mid-80s. I only had it on a tape that I made off of WPEG (98.1 FM) out of Charlotte, NC. Although I've Googled the lyrics a few times, I've not been able to find out the artist or title.

Here's what I can recall, it was a rap where at least two guys, sort of in a RUN-DMC style, were on the mic and it had some backing female vocals.

Intro: "We gotta live it up"

Lyrics:

People say life ain't nothin' but a bowl of cherries
Throw aside your frustrations and your worries
Stop feelin' down, stop feelin' sad
Compared to other people your life ain't bad
Take a look around and you're sure to find
When you're livin' it up, you're livin' it right!
...
Refrain (with a little echo): We gotta live it up!
...
musical interlude: beats and synth
...
Take my advice from Mr. Ice
When you're livin' it up, you're livin' it nice!

Refrain (with a little echo): We gotta live it up!

Fade out with female vocals...
You know lights burn(?)
I'd like to say
This world is (dove)?
And they captured love(?)

Thanks for any help identifying the song, artist or any other facts about it!
