Trying to figure out this track...

Postby ckuesper » Mon May 29, 2017 11:38 pm

This has been driving me crazy for years. On Stetsasonic's cut, "Blood, Sweat, and No Tears", there's an obviously old school track played at the beginning and at the end of this cut. I've tried WhoSampled.com and manually searching over 400 tracks related to Bob James' "Take Me to the Mardi Gras". I've used Shazam, but it only pulls up the Stet cut. Can someone have a listen and give me their thoughts? Thank you!

I don't know who that is, but it sounds like Grandmaster Caz (Casanova) or one of the Cold Crush Brothers or some real old-school song that may not have even been published...maybe only recorded on a tape from a live recording.

BTW - if you haven't seen Hip-Hop Evolution documentary on Netflix (https://www.netflix.com/title/80141782), you should most definitely check it out!

Good luck tracking down who this is!
