Hi there: I found the Sound on Sound productions record on Youtube:

It seems to be from 1980 and you can hear the scratching (I think by Ron McBean) at 3:17. At the end of the record they're also talking about the beatbox and it sounds like they're using it too.

This is what Discogs says about the record: ... se/1529545

I also found this, but I'm not sure if it's from 1979 like the title and label says:

Hi everyone ..I'm a dj & beatdigger & ive been on a quest to find the earliest recordings with vinyl or tape scratching for many years.

There's a text document called KoolFlash which has a listing of the earliest recordings to feature scratching. It was created to be copied , edited , updated & freely circulated amongst the community.

@ KoolDJMace.. Thank you for the latest contribution to my koolflash. I also discovered this track from 1977 which i feel deserves a mention as it's very creative illustration of scratching using magenetic tape & word manipulation.

That Lauries Anderson joint is banoodles !! The reel tape scratch thing sounds like somethin Mixmaster Mike might be doin today !!

I was discussing non-scratch scratching with one of the people that assisted with the Fats Comet/ Tackhead recordings in the 80s, he was telling me that they used quarter inch tape decks for their recordings.

I was under the impression that it was DJ Cheese that had a hand in the process, but I understand that he only did King of the Beat.
